F Horns, Single and Double

What F horn services do you offer?

For horns, a clean and service involves ultrasonic cleaning, polishing of slide tubes, removing any corrosion from the valves, minor dent removal, aligning and restringing the rotors, and replacing any waterkey corks. As necessary or upon request, waterkey or valve springs may also be replaced. Depending on the state of the instrument, other general services may be necessary for an additional charge.

I also offer lacquer stripping with either a scratch brush or satin finish. Satin finishes can be done in either a brushed or swirl design. If there’s a lot of pitting or scratches, a swirl satin finish can sometimes hide more that a single-direction brushed finish. If you’re unsure what finish you’re interested in, I can recommend what finish would best fit your time and budget upon assessment of the instrument.

In the future I hope to be able to offer luster finishes and relacquering overhaul services. If you’re interested in relacquering, keep and eye on my blog or social media for updates!

Additionally, if your rotors have become noisy over the years, I offer rotor bearing tightening. It’s common for rotor bearings to wear out over time, but rather than needing a complete valve job with replating and honing, often loose valves can be drastically improved simply by tightening the front and back bearings… An example of this difference can be found HERE on my Instagram!
